I am reaching out to you to inform you of an immediate opening for an Associate Director of Cytogenetics for a laboratory in California (CA license required); see job overview below. 1) ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, CYTOGENETICS (California) Assistant or Associate Director of Cytogenetics will work in conjunction with the current Director who has the ultimate authority and responsibility for the Cytogenetics Department. The role will help provide direction and leadership for the administrative, technical and scientific responsibilities of the Department of Cytogenetics. It will focus primarily on clinical service, with background-based input into translational research and the cytogenetics research core facility Ideally, the applicant should have extensive knowledge of cytogenetic technical troubleshooting, with background in system analysis, project management, computer software, time management, and institutional best practices as they relate to the field of cancer cytogenetics. Major assignments include Reviews, writes, and interprets cytogenetic and molecular cytogenetic laboratory results; communicates final report to medical staff. Selects, implements, and/or develops departmental procedures following all regulatory qualifications. Maintains and fosters fiscal strength of the department by improving efficiency, developing new clinical assays and increasing revenue-producing tests. Maintains licensure and a constant state of readiness for all unannounced State, CAP, JCAHO, and other regulatory inspections. Min Education and Skills Required for Consideration M.D. or Ph.D. Clinical Cytogeneticist is required. A min of at least 5yrs of clinical cytogenetic background; preferably at a Director level and in cancer cytogenetics. Must be boarded by the American Board of Medical Genetics in Clinical Cytogenetics. Ideally must have a State of California Clinical Cytogeneticist license. Strong knowledge of ISCN nomenclature and excellent detail-oriented work habits. Excellent English language skills, both oral and written. Good knowledge of State, CAP, JCAHO, and institutional policies and procedures for directing a clinical laboratory. Must have expertise to provide objective input on operational issues and have an understanding of a broad set of problem-solving methods. Relocation benefits may apply for this opportunity.
